Rose Tibayan is the Director of Public Affairs, Office of Budget and Management for the City of Chicago. She is an award-winning former broadcast journalist who, for 15 years, worked as a television reporter for news stations in Philadelphia, New York, San Francisco, Fort Myers, and Guam. Accolades include a national Excellence in Journalism Award from the Association of Healthcare Journalists (AHCJ) and three Telly Awards.
She is a member of the Philippine Co-curation team at The Field Museum, where 10,000 Philippines objects are stored. Rose has served as National Board Member and local Vice President for the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), Illinois Vice Chair for the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), and twice as Committee Chair for the Asian American Coalition of Chicago (AACC).
Rose holds a Master of Arts degree in Medical and Science Journalism from Columbia University in the City of New York, where she was a Robert Wood Johnson Medical Foundation scholar and Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation fellow. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Delaware. Rose, a vegetarian, is a strong advocate for animals.
